Euro 2016 Aday Türkiye Turkey is Candidate! (Tanıtım Filmi – FULL) Cenevre’de yapılan toplantıda 3 ülkenin sunumlarının yapılmasının ardından oy verme işlemine geçildi. Oy verme işlemi sona erdikten sonra UEFA Başkanı Platini Fransa’nın EURO 2016′ya ev sahipliğini yapacağını açıkladı. 2 aşamalı yapılan oylamanın ilk bölümünde Fransa 43, Türkiye 38, İtalya 23 oy aldı. Fransa’yla birlikte finale kalan Türkiye 13 UEFA üyesinin 6′sının oyunu alarak, 7 oy kazanan Fransa’nın 1 oy gerisinde kaldı ve turnuvaya ev sahipliği yapma hakkını kaybetti. Fransa, daha önce ev sahipliği yaptığı 1984 Avrupa Şampiyonası ve 1998 Dünya Kupası’nda kupayı müzesine götürmeyi başarmıştı. TRT France will host the European Football Championship for a third time in 2016 after defeating rival bids by Turkey and Italy in a ceremony attended by President Nicolas Sarkozy. France previously hosted the inaugural European championship in 1960 — a mini-tournament featuring only four teams — and the 1984 event, which they won with a team captained by Michel Platini, the current UEFA president. Platini sat alongside Sarkozy during the presentations of the three bids.
